Kafein — Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Kafein (the “App”) is a mobile application that helps you keep track of your daily coffee intake. We have designed the App to respect your privacy: all data you generate stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.
2. Data We Process
The App stores the following information locally on your device:
- Coffee entries you create (type of coffee, date and time of the entry).
- Custom coffee types you define (name and caffeine-related metadata).
- Achievement progress derived from your entries.
- Preferences such as the selected language and animation settings.
This information is stored in a local SQLite database and in the standard Android preferences storage. It never leaves your device through the App.
3. Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not require an account or any sign-in.
- We do not collect personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, device ID, etc.).
- We do not use analytics, tracking, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or location.
- We do not transmit your coffee history to any server.
4. Permissions
The App does not request runtime permissions such as location, camera, microphone, contacts, or storage access. It only uses the standard application sandbox provided by Android to store its own local database and preferences.
5. Network Activity
The App does not make network requests to send your data. Network activity may still occur outside the App's control through standard platform services (for example, Google Play delivering updates or operating-system telemetry). Those services are governed by their own providers' privacy policies.
6. Third-Party Services
Kafein does not embed third-party analytics, advertising networks, or social-media SDKs. The App is distributed through the Google Play Store; data processed by Google in connection with the distribution and installation of the App is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
7. Children's Privacy
Kafein is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. Because we do not collect personal data from anyone, we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. Your Control Over Your Data
You are in full control of the data stored by the App:
- You can delete individual coffee entries from within the App.
- You can reset all data from Settings in the App.
- You can uninstall the App at any time; uninstalling removes the local database and preferences.
Because we do not receive any of your data, there is nothing for us to export, modify, or delete on our side.
9. Data Security
Your data is stored in the App's private storage area, which is isolated from other applications by the Android operating system. We recommend keeping your device's operating system updated and using a screen lock to further protect data stored on the device.
10. International Users
Because no data is collected or transferred off the device, the App does not involve international transfers of personal data. The App is intended to comply with applicable privacy laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), to the extent these apply to a data-free application.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of the document indicates the latest revision. Continued use of the App after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
